PRAGUE...

its been long since I sat down to talk to you about my journeys.............so let me tell you about my favourite.....

Prague is the capital of the Czech Republic...the wiki says Prague has been a political, cultural and economic center of Europe and particularly eastern Europe for the over 1,100 years of its existence. I believe that it is one of the places where you can see the sheer beauty of early architecture - Russian and European. The city has an amazing history. If the wiki were to be quoted again - The city played roles in the Protestant Reformation, the Thirty Years' War, and in 20th-century history, both during the two World Wars and during the post-war Communist era.

It was eventful how I reached Prague.....something like - i missed my flight from hyderabad, went to Mumbai, hovered at a doorsteps of a travel agent to get me a quick ticket to Prague, got into the flight next day only to realise that we had to get back to ground because of a scare....waited another 4 hours or so....went to Helsinki for a connecting flight and reached Prague!!! huh at last!!!!

Not to miss telling you about the sights at Helsinki airport...........it was around Christmas and I was fascinated by the wooden miniatures of gnomes, fairies and other decorations at a store....i cudnt resist buying this stuff which now are an integral part of my collection of souvenirs from abroad.....as they say alls well that ends well...

Coming back to Prague...the city is easy to explore on foot...all you need is a city map...going around you will know that each structure in the city reflects on its heritage..........it is in fact, since 1992, named the UNESCO world heritage sites......if tht dosent take your breath away the Prague Castle will....it is the world's largest castle.

Some other places to see - Old town square, National museum, the picturesque Charles Bridge on River Vltava.

It is just an 'out of the world' experience - standing on the Charles Bridge and looking below at the serene river flowing with the beautiful and scenic city around you......It is so romantic...
